WhoPays Privacy Policy

Effective: October 1, 2026 (originally September 3, 2026)

WhoPays (Korean name 누가얼마, "the app") handles only the information needed to log trip expenses and calculate who owes whom. It does not send that information to any server or collect it. A third-party ad SDK does process some device information to show ads, as described in section 4 below.

1. Personal data we collect

The app itself collects no personal data. It has no sign-up, no login, and no server storage. Trip names, the names of the people you traveled with, and expenses are stored only on your device (browser local storage). No one, including the developer, can access them. The ad SDK bundled with the app (see section 4) may separately process device information such as an advertising identifier in order to show ads.

2. When you share a link

"Share trip as a link" compresses the trip name, participant names, and expenses into the link itself. That data lives in the hash part of the link (after #), so it is never sent to or logged by a web server. Anyone you send the link to can view its contents. A link is only created when you choose to share.

3. Data on your device and deletion

Trips, members, and expenses are stored in your browser's local storage. Deleting a trip in the app removes its data. Clearing site data or uninstalling the app removes everything. Backup files you create with "Save backup" are saved only to your device.

4. Ads, analytics, third-party SDKs

The app uses Google AdMob to show a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. AdMob may process an advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, advertising ID on Android), device information, approximate location, and app usage information to serve and measure ads. This information is processed by Google under its own privacy policy, not by this app — see Google's policy on how data is used in partner apps and sites for details. On iOS 14.5+, the app may request tracking authorization for personalized ads; you can decline this and still use the app normally (you may see non-personalized ads instead). The app uses no analytics tools or tracking scripts other than AdMob.

5. Children

The app itself collects no personal data regardless of age, but information processed by the ad SDK in section 4 may be restricted from being used for personalized ads if you are under 14. The app is not directed at children.
